Did you know that all of Kai’Sa’s skins are (as of this writing) all priced at 1350 RP? Usually champions have a wide array of prices that range from simple character model recolors to complete overhauls. But Riot’s little Void girl is sitting pretty with only high-quality skins under her belt. That might make her skin library tough to rank, but let’s try anyways.
7. K/DA ALL OUT Kai’Sa
Released: October 29th, 2020 Price: 1350 RP OK let’s just rip the band aid off quickly – I don’t like the K/DA skins all that much for Kai’sa. As opposed to a skin line like Pentakill, K/DA ALL OUT just seems dull. The character model looks like your typical pop star, and the animations are largely forgettable. I can’t say that the animations are bad necessarily. Because they are extremely polished and flow nicely. But they just don’t feel all that unique. Even the backing animation disappointed me to a certain extent. And if we’re talking about the Prestige Edition, my opinion remains largely the same. It just makes her look like that one character who managed to turn money into a superpower. I’m sorry K/DA stans, but pop idol will never be cooler than daughter of the Void.
6. K/DA Kai’Sa
Released: November 3rd, 2018 Price: 1350 RP Considering everything I said about the previous skin, I’d imagine this is hardly a surprise. However, I do prefer the original K/DA skin over the newer one quite a bit. The character model is a lot more colorful here, and leans more towards the superhero side than the generic pop idol side. Also the splash art is also a lot nicer in my opinion, and more iconic. So extra points there. And the backing animation has a more pleasant jingle. That said, the Prestige Edition of this skin is also a bit too “money is power” for my taste. But I at least think this makes for a decent stand-alone skin.
5. Arcade Kai’Sa
Released: June 28th, 2019 Price: 1350 RP Finally, a skin that actually feels like a skin. I’ve always been a sucker for Arcade skins in League. And this one definitely lives up to the name. There are simply so many little details and design choices that make Arcade Kai’Sa really work well in my eyes – I can hardly name them all here! But I will point out that having the wings be controllers was a rather brilliant idea. And that this skin is the only one in Kai’Sa’s collection to truly utilize her ability upgrades & attach a unique animation to it. The ability animations and particles are all 8-bit, which is always a safe bet for this type of design. And the backing animation even has Kai’Sa game it out for a bit, and then break into a little dance. Overall I’d say this skin is just very fun to toy with. And I hope Kai’Sa gets even more whacky skins in the future.
4. Bullet Angel Kai’Sa
Released: March 7th, 2018 Price: 1350 RP This was the first Kai’Sa skin to be released. And I honestly think it did the best job with staying true to the champion’s fantasy. Having Kai’Sa turn into a Gundam-esque fighter seemed like such a natural choice. And the design team really brought their A game. The character model is really well-made here, with some cool jetpacks for wings and a badass helmet for when you want to go ham on the enemy team. Plus the ability animations are all rather clean, especially the E in my experience. And the backing animation just seems appropriately badass for such a BA character. I don’t have any real complaints about this skin to be honest. And I only put it here in the ranking because the following skins have a slightly more unique aesthetics. And the first place skin is just in a completely different league altogether!
3. IG Kai’Sa
Released: April 23rd, 2019 Price: 1350 RP I will never understand how IG skins manage to be some of the most aesthetically pleasing options in the entire game – even though they were made for Worlds. But here we are yet again. I can’t even pinpoint what exactly makes IG Kai’Sa so amazing. So I’m just going to ramble and I think we’ll find the answer. First, let’s look at the character model. While Kai’Sa’s outfit in this skin isn’t anything all that impressive, the raven-like wings do wonders for the overall aesthetic. But that aesthetic would certainly fall apart, were it not for the amazing particle effects. All of her abilities have a nice mix of blacks and whites, which personally gives me strong “fallen angel” vibes. And it just makes the whole package pop off of the screen. Or in other words, this skin is just insanely cool and I want it.
2. Lagoon Dragon Kai’Sa
Released: October 21st, 2021 Price: 1350 RP I don’t know what Riot’s team was on at the time, but whoever looked at Kai’Sa’s wings and went “don’t they remind you of two dragons whispering sweet nothings into your ear?” needs to get a raise. The character model here looks absolutely stunning, with a nice mix of aquatic themes, as well as a decent dose of dragon symbols and swirls. Likewise, the ability particles have all been redone to fit the dragon theme a bit better – most obvious with the Q and W animations. And the backing animation could honestly carry this skin on its own. The theme for Lagoon Dragon Kai’Sa is just really cool. And since we don’t get a lot of “out of the box” skins for Kai’Sa, this mystical rendition is definitely worth a shot. 10/10 – but still outclassed by my number one pick.
1. Star Guardian Kai’Sa
Released: July 14th, 2022 Price: 1820 RP Kai’Sa getting a Star Guardian skin is probably the most predictable move Riot has ever made. And even more predictably, it’s an absolute smash hit. Just by being a legendary skin, you already know that you’re getting all the bells and whistles. From auto attack animations that are smoother than a dolphin’s back to new idle animations. This skin has it all! You even get a toggle that gives the entire screen a nice new overlay, very much in the vein of the DBZ Scouters. And god knows that toggles like this are very rare in League! Of course, you also get adorable new emotes (the joke one being my personal favorite), a new VO, new voice lines, a new death animation, and a new homeguard animation. And there’s still more! Your ability transformations actually look distinct and impactful! Especially your Q, as it just feels like a completely new ability. Plus, your E and your ult get some much-needed love and finally feel like proper movement abilities. I could honestly go on and on about this skin. But you get the point! The skin tweaks and polishes every part of Kai’Sa’s kit. And even thematically serves as an incredibly cool idea – depicting a Kai’Sa that never got swept into the Void. Overall, if you have the money to get this skin – absolutely do it. Note: this content was created under Riot Games’ “Legal Jibber Jabber” policy using assets owned by Riot Games.
