Okay, okay, I’ll hear you out… but I need you to know, Batman really is the best of them. I The caped crusader has been capturing people’s hearts and minds for decades. And it’s not hard to see why: Bruce Wayne’s edgy billionaire vigilantism gets combined with the cool tech and suit. It’s a winning combo. And if you want further proof, just take a look at how great Batman and his associates can be rendered down into sweet, blocky Minecraft pixels (spoilers: they look pretty great).
1. The Classic
Check Out This Skin Superheroes have been dominating American culture for decades. And let’s be honest – we all get it. Look at this classic rendition of Adam West’s Batman from the 1960’s and tell me that you don’t hear the “na na na na” theme playing in your head. Superheroes and their stories, from the cheesiest of camp to the grittiest dramas, have a way of burrowing into our minds. Cool designs like this one by creator halucid have a big part in that process.
2. Armored (Batman v. Superman)
Check Out This Skin While the DC Universe films have had varied reception among fans, and have been of varying quality, the Batman v. Superman suits were pretty sick. The modernized, bulky, heavily-armored batsuit in that film saw Batman bending guns and going toe to toe with Superman. I know this skin won’t give you that kind of combat buff. But it will give you the same level of cool aesthetics (if not more). I mean really, the way this skin expresses the bulk looks incredible. On top of that, this might have the best cape I’ve ever seen in a Minecraft skin.
3. Arkham Knight
Check Out This Skin The Arkham series of video games which started back with Arkham Asylum in 2009 has launched multiple Game of the Year winners. The game’s Batman in this series diverged from the modern movies renditions of him with their mystique and drama. Instead the games portrayed a cool, collected, straightforward Batman like back in the comics and original animated series. This skin by creator Kill3rCreeper takes all the designs that the Arkham games honed and mastered, and distills it all into beautiful Minecraft pixelation.
4. The Ben
Check Out This Skin There have been so many Batmen in recent years, it’s hard to keep track of who’s been who. However, they all have slightly different looks that can identify them. This skin by creator Hurlop is, in my opinion, a perfect rendition of Ben Affleck’s Batman in the DC cinematic universe. It’s a design that’s darker than others with a bulky armored mask. And the suit has a preposterous amount of visible muscles on it. It’s all the superhero detailing that we’ve come to know and love.
5. Maskless Batman
Check Out This Skin Bruce Wayne’s identity is always a hot point of contention in the Batman comics, series, and films. Will his identity be revealed? Why is the villain always the one revealing it? These are fair questions, but questions that you don’t have to worry about. You know who Batman is, and he looks great with mask on or off. If you feel like rolling loud and proud with your superhero suit on and face out, then this maskless Batman skin is the one for you.
6. Robin
Check Out This Skin I don’t think any discussion of Batman is ever truly complete without at least the mention of Robin. The boy wonder is the yin to Batman’s yang in everything from design to persona. Seriously, look at how dark and regular all the Batman skins above are compared to the bold red, green, and yellow of this classic Robin. I don’t know about you, but sometimes a pop of color doesn’t hurt. And neither does a little Robin.
7. The Joker
Check Out This Skin There’s a genuine debate as to whether or not Batman would have found the success that it has as a franchise if not for the Joker. The Joker’s mysterious origins and anarchic ideals make him the perfect foil (and villain) for the Batman. Over the ages, we’ve been blessed with some amazing Joker performances. Well this MC skin by creator Bungify is a tremendous version of the mangled and sinister Joker from the Arkham series, voiced by Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill.
8. Arkham Origins Robin
Check Out This Skin While we’re on the topic of the Arkham series, let me just drop this Arkham Origins Robin skin for you. The original Robin’s colorful design matched the wild and campy version of Batman in the 1960’s. But the deep-red focus of the Arkham game’s design is so much cooler. Skin creator AltoidFlava (hilarious name) really nailed this design & solidified this as one of my favorite skins on this list.
9. The Trilogy Batman
Check Out This Skin Perhaps being the best known and most influential Batman series, Christopher Nolan’s trilogy featured the legendary performance by Heath Ledger as the Joker in 2008’s The Dark Knight. This trilogy has probably the best Batman movies of all time, and one of my favorite batsuits of all time. Christian Bale’s Batman was subtle and strong. And we get that same design in creator marz888’s custom-made MC skin.
10. Bane (The Dark Knight Rises)
Check Out This Skin I miss the days when people would cup their hands over their mouth and do poor impressions of The Dark Knight Rises’ Bane. The quotes were fun and cheesy, but the character was a ball of muscle – all menace and presence. The same can be said of this skin by creator Emiliocraft. They perfectly captured the raw muscle and power that Bane presents in that film.
11. Harvey Dent/Two-Face
Check Out This Skin Being another one of Batman’s iconic villains and co-stars of The Dark Knight, Harvey Dent might be my favorite Batman antagonist. He doesn’t have as much over-the-top gusto as many superhero villains do. But Harvey Dent’s literal two-sided ambivalence between good and bad is so compelling as a character that I can’t help but love him. And that same adoration I feel for the character? Well I also feel it for this crisp and deftly-made skin.
12. Mr. Freeze
Check Out This Skin Mr. Freeze is hilarious. I know he’s a supervillain and whatnot, but the premise of a villain who makes things cold is inherently funny. Combine that with Arnold’s rendition of Mr. Freeze in the 90’s and all I can muster for this character is love. To be honest, it’s easy to love the character when creators like pens_and_pencils make such flawless renditions of him. The red eyes and pale blue frozen exterior around the head of this skin draws the eye, and looks as remarkable as any of the best skins I’ve seen before.
13. Poison Ivy
Check Out This Skin I think Poison Ivy is underrated. We haven’t gotten a quality live-action version of her character yet. And what a missed opportunity that is. Thankfully, PlanetMinecraft creator Roobus agrees with me. And they took the liberty of making this iconic Batman character into a perfect Minecraft skin. I love the way this skin’s textures go between meshing directly with the skin of the character, and sticking out and above it. I don’t know how those 3D effects work. But clearly Roobus does, and I have to give them props for it.
14. Harley Quinn
Check Out This Skin With Margot Robbie’s rendition of the character blowing up in popularity, there was no way a Batman skin list could be complete without Harley Quinn on it. The character’s unhinged persona and bicolor design made her a fan favorite pretty much from the moment she was created. And let’s be honest, we all get it. Harley Quinn is fun, scary, and enticing all at the same time. She’s a perfect counterbalance to the flat and realistic grit of Batman.
15. Heath Ledger’s Joker
Check Out This Skin Because of how realistic and down-to-earth Heath Ledger’s Joker was, I didn’t think the design would be something that shines in Minecraft skin form – but boy was I wrong. Somehow, skin creator Wagendenburger took the terrifying realism of Ledger’s Joker and made a not-cartoony (and very proportional) Minecraft skin. This one is unmistakable. Anyone who sees this skin will recognize it as The Dark Knight’s Joker. And anyone who sees it ought to have the same reaction: I want to download that now.
